After 2 years of COVID, followed by a horrific flood in 2021 leaving the golf course 2 years later still in Recovery Mode. Then losing our management team the day before one of our largest Annual tournaments, we thank our lucky stars that we had such wonderful friends who came to bat for us. Working hours in the Pro Shop … re-certifying their food safe and cooking up a storm … coming in on their days off at their other full-time job, or out of retirement …. to work long days on grounds. Our 1 only grounds crew staff that had remained, taking on extra hours yet still making time to cook up eggers at our tournament.
We could not have made it through the challenges 2022 and 2023 brought us without Pam and Chuck Testawich, Charlie Grant, Mike Loree, Rod Plamondon, Mike Carriere, Rod McDonnell, Dave Boulton, Virginia White, Ruth Bangay, Anna Johnstad-Moller, Steve and Inge Wilson, and all of you who supported our club run tournaments and continued to purchase green fees regardless of the golf course conditions. Finally, we appreciate the countless volunteers that volunteered their time, equipment, and money, to help the Hope Golf & Country Club Society repair their beautiful golf course which Vince and I had the honour of operating for the last 7 years.
As of October 1st, 2023, Vince and I will no longer be the Operators at Hope Golf Club, we thank everyone for your support throughout our tenure there, and for riding the waves with us as we endured COVID … Horrific Flood … Drought Conditions … High Water … Staff Shortages … Equipment breaking down and challenging budgets! Phew … we are exhausted.
On the positive side, Vince and I are now in Lethbridge Alberta close to our children and grandchildren. Vince, working a less stressful schedule in Golf Sales and Consulting. Myself, putting together golf play and stay packages at some pretty amazing golf courses, which means, shucks darn we will just have to go check them out, before recommending them. We think it is safe to say that we are looking forward to our newest adventures and lifestyle.
